It is a Saturday night.

I sit here listening to Oleta Adams on 'Get Here', wishing you were here, somehow. I know it wouldn't be right, but I wish you were here.

There's so much I want to tell you. About the poor whale that died on the Thames. About how when it rains the droplets of water sit on the top of my head like a thousand little shards of glass. About how my heart leaped for joy when I opened the front door this morning and was greeted by the sun, cheerful and generous with its rays. The same one that shined upon two people walking in Hyde Park one breezy autumn's day. About my sister growing up so, and me only being able to witness from afar. I want to tell you I bought Crunchy Nut cereal bars at Sainsbury's today - did you know they have chocolate ones as well?

Every day there's something new I want to tell you, to share with you. And most days I hold back. Some days I'm glad it's turned out this way. Some days I just don't know.

Some days you feel so close to me. Other days, so far away.

Still a little bit of your taste in my mouth
Still a little bit of you laced with my doubt
Still a little hard to say what's going on
Still a little bit of your ghost, your witness
Still a little bit of your face I haven't kissed
You step a little closer each day
That I can't say what's going on
Still a little bit of your song in my ear
Still a little bit of your words I long to hear
You step a little closer to me
So close that I can't see what's going on
["Cannonball" - Damien Rice]
