Hola from Cromwell Rd!

I've never had more strangers pass by me in a such a short span of time and at such a regular frequency as I now do, sitting at my desk looking out onto the very breath-taking and awe-inspiring view of.....

The tube track. District line.

How many times have I stopped short while opening the windows, or taking something from my window sill-turned-storage shelves because I was slightly embarassed at having so many people so near me looking my way, though not necessarily AT me. Very often the tube stops dead right in front of my window, possibly while waiting for a queue in the track to clear. And the tube is so near my window, separated only by a distance of about 2 metres on the ground. Hopefully in a week or two I will get used to that. I've already gotten used to the noise - in fact I find it quite soothing, the rhythmic chug-chug and the gentle rumble of the ground below my feet. You know how sometimes if things are TOO silent it gets a bit unnerving and uncomfortable, especially here in the rear part of the basement where you can't hear cars zooming by on the road or passers-by chattering, as I did back in my room in Willis Jackson. One plus point of having the tube track right beside our room is that we get ample sunshine because the building behind us is a good distance away. Otherwise it could get very gloomy in the basement especially during winter.

All in all, I am quite in love with my new place. Those of you who don't know yet, I am sharing a studio apartment with Melissa on Cromwell Road, just a stone's throw away from (arguably) my favourite place in London - Sainsbury's Central! Living right next door to us are the guys - Alan, Chong Ka and Lance, and there are 2 other Malaysian households and 4 other Singaporean households on the floors above us. How cool is that. (= I really really thank God for blessing us with this wonderful apartment. Yup, a wonderful apartment is a blessing. It is an apartment, and it is wonderful. Hahahaha! Pardon me but that is just one of the symptoms of watching Kung Pow three times in a span of four days - Ian would be darn proud of me I reckon! Lol.

Anyways! Haven't gotten broadband at my new place yet, I'm typing this on my laptop but will be posting it from a university PC when I go for my very first 2nd year personal tutorial later. I wonder who my new (and unfortunate) lab partner is gonna be this year.... muahahaha. Actually, that was a fake laugh. It is not a laughing matter at all, this lab partner thing. It could make or break your lab marks. I really hope I got a decent and nice person for a labbie.

Am sitting here listening to Oleta Adams' 'Get Here' on repeat one (and of course, the sound of the tubes passing by). It is a nice and sunshiny day today. I can't wait to see all my Chem Eng mates again today. (=
