Hmmm.

Now who was it who once said "To err is human, to forgive divine"? It is indeed nothing less than a divine thing - to be able to truly forgive from the heart someone who has done you wrong. And I'm speaking in very general terms here. But today the thought just kinda struck me... lots of heartache, depression and disillusionment - lots of suicide - is caused by the problem of one not being able to forgive one's own self. When we are unable to forgive ourselves, does that reflect upon the gravity of our sin/wrongdoing, or does it, in fact, show that we have not fully grasped that our sin - past, present and future - has already been forgiven by God once and for all? Why does it sometimes seem easier to forgive everyone else but ourselves? God Himself has declared, "Your sins are forgiven". Who are we to think or say otherwise?

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

Psalm 130
1Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord;
2O Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
to my cry for mercy.
3If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins,
O Lord, who could stand?
4But with you there is forgiveness;
therefore you are feared.
5I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
and in his word I put my hope.
6My soul waits for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.
7O Israel, put your hope in the Lord,
for with the Lord is unfailing love
and with him is full redemption.
8He himself will redeem Israel
from all ther sins.
