Repercussions

Memories of it are like stains
that can never be removed completely. Each time
you think they've been washed away,
inadvertently
you find more of them in some random folder
some random drawer.
The left-overs, the remainders.

And you reminisce once again; although
you know
only too well
- oh yes you've learnt the hard way -
that you mustn't.
Is there a cure, is there...
an antidote?
for these withdrawal symptoms?

And you find
no reason to make this all worthwhile.
