TGIF indeed, but....
He did die.
What a start to the weekend. This morning on my way to school (I was walking with Chong Ka), I saw a man fall to his death, right before my very eyes. We were just walking down Queen's Gate like we do every day... and I saw something falling (as it appeared, from the sky) but I thought it was just, you know, some random thing... not a MAN... Huge thud, and then Tammi who was walking just ahead of us, suddenly turned around with this very very horrified look on her face and started searching her bag to get her phone out. That was when I realised that it was a man who had fallen from a building, and he was already sprawled on the pavement.... The feeling of horror was just... well... horrifying. The most disturbing thing I've seen, ever. For a few moments I just didn't know what to do. Walk up to him? Walk away? Walk on? After hanging around for a minute or so, Chong Ka and I just decided to go, since we couldn't do anything to help anyway. I was praying in my heart that the man would not lose his life. He was in fact, still conscious (or at least semi-conscious) after the fall because he was moving his head and groaning softly... so I thought maybe he still had a chance.
But then on my way back just half an hour ago, I walked past the scene - policemen, police line, reporters and all - and I saw a red cloth over what must be his body. =(
Still can't get out of my head that sound of him hitting the ground. It was all just so cold, so stark, and so very sudden. Life is indeed so fragile...
