Of gluttony and matrimony
Just a while ago my mom and I treated ourselves to a great feast of authentic kampung-style kuih Melayu - from pisang goreng to kuih ketayap, to kuih rengas, to cekodok.... Indeed we astounded even ourselves with the amount of kuih we had bought. Sad to say, it would have been a more delightful meal had I not over-eaten. I guess I was too excited, having been deprived of kuih for so long. All in all, I had two pisang gorengs, one wadai, four small cekodoks, one kuih ketayap and half a seri muka. Quite a feat for someone of my size. Anyway, halfway through my seri muka, I felt SO sick. It felt like all my innards were quaking within me and the pressure build-up was about to send goodness-knows-what all the way back along my entire digestive tract, up my oesophagus (or is the oesophagus part of the digestive tract? I don't know, I don't study Bio, you see *grin*) and out of my gaping mouth like a Roman fountain. It was a horrible feeling which lasted for about half a minute. Even a visit to the toilet did not help. To quote my mom, in economics lingo, marginal utility decreased. :-P
And to think that after the abovementioned face-stuffing feat, while perched on the toilet bowl attempting (unsuccessfully) to empty my bowels, I could still gleefully think about my dad's suggestion that I go for Eng Keat's 10-course wedding dinner at Shangri-La KL in my sister's place, since she won't be able to make it on that day. Yeah, you may be wondering why my sister was invited but not me. It's her nanny's son's wedding, you see. I haven't attended a single wedding in years and years.... and am quite desperate to attend one before I leave for the UK. I wish my brother or someone would get married (Eric: *hint hint*). Sook Meng's brother is getting married, Alan's brother is getting married, Alvin Choong's brother just tied the knot... (by the way, what's with all these Penangites getting married around the same time??? Didn't know it was an auspicious month for wedding bells to toll.)
Feeling sleepy now. (Rrrright..... lepas makan, tidur... very good, May.)

Just to post a comment I have to be taken through 3 pages: one requesting me to sign up, one asking me if I should want to make a comment (imagine, two "Wanna make a comment" links) and the last, well, saying if I want to post as Anonymous? Hell no! I want to let the whole world know who I am!
All this just to make a little comment on this-
"Quite a feat for someone of my size." - May.
Boy, talk about self-acknowledgement! *pukes* XD
I don't know some of the kuihs you mentioned...care to describe? More on food, I haven't started executing my plan to visit those Penang foodstalls on my checklist! But I'll be starting later at 1pm at a cute lil' A&W outlet outside Prangin Mall. Yeah, I know, where was I when I still had A&W at Pyramid, right? Sheeesh. Lesson #107: Appreciate what you have now because it's not always that we find a 2nd A&W stop in life.
Awww, SOokIe, that's just so...DEEP. **laugh**
